Radon is a cancer-causing, radioactive gas. According to the EPA's 2003 Assessment of Risk of Radon in Homes, Radon is estimated to cause about 21,000 lung cancer deaths per year.

Radon comes from the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water and gets into the air that we breathe. Radon can get into any type of building including schools and hospitals. However, since we spend most of our time at home, this is where is poses the most threat.

The EPA recommends that everyone have their home tested for Radon. If the levels in your home are above 4 pci/l, you should have a professional fix the issue to ensure Radon levels are brought down below  4 pci/l.

Radon levels vary from home to home. If your neighbor's home tested below a 4 pci/l, that does not necessarily mean that your home is safe. Tests are easy and affordable. You can buy tests or you can hire a licensed professional with specialized testing equipment to do it for you.

You cannot see, smell, or taste Radon. Testing is the only way to know if you and your family are at risk.
